Replace your Rubber Washing Machine Hose with a Reinforced Mesh Hose.
Did you know that the standard 5/8" hose from a washing machine can pump 10 to 12 gallons of water per minute? These cheap rubber hoses can easily burst flooding your home with 14,000 to 17,000 gallons in 24 hours. That's the size of a 18'X4' round swimming pool! Replace those old hoses with new reinforced mesh hoses for around $12. You can find them at your local Ace Hardware, Lowe's or Home Depot.
